I want to get my 2400+ M up to 200 mhrz FSB

I currently have my CPU at 177x13 (2.31 ghrz) and I want to get it up to 200 mhrz but anything else just seems unstable. I am pretty sure my ram is hlding me back because it is PC2700.

I have Kingston Hyper-X pc2700 at 6-3-3-3 (it's actually marketed at 5-2-2-2, should I change it to that?) .

I have no idea about oc'ing RAM let alone ram timings. can somone give me suggestions on what I should lower my RAM timings to so I can get it to pc3200 speeds?

I have an abit nf7-s

Have you tried bumping the voltage of the RAM up to 2.8 or 2.9v?

I've got Muskin "basic green" PC2700 and it's running fine at 190 FSB at about 2.8v. The RAM could actually go higher, but my board is holding me back from a higher FSB.

Does your board give you the option to lock the ram at a lower speed like 177 and then push the fsb up to 200 without the ram holding you back?

It's the same reason that you bump the CPU voltage to improve stability when overclocking. When you overclock, more voltage is sometimes required to run at the higher speeds and remain stable.

What core voltage are you running the mobile right now at 177x13? I'm pretty sure it's not the default voltage of 1.35 or 1.45v? You probably had to bump it up a few tenths in order to run stable at the higher multiplier and FSB values. Bumping the RAM voltage works exactly the same way.

Bumping the RAM voltage up to 2.8v or 2.9v will go a long way to running the PC2700 as high as you can.

That's not bad at all. If you lower it back to the default, it ain't going to run at 177x13.

Yep, I just learned that the hard way. I nearly had a heart attack when my computer stopped outputting video. :p

I am gonna try and run it at 200x11.5.... does that seems acceptable?

Yeah, that's reasonable, but the RAM may not go that high. Start with the CPU voltage at 1.65v and set the RAM voltage to 2.8v. See if you can hit 11.5x200, and if not lower the multiplier to 11x and see what happens.

Once you know what piece of hardware is holding you back, you can make changes to the FSB and multiplier to get this highest speed as possible.

I have it at 200x11.5 right now. It seems pretty stable. I ran 3dmark01's Mother Nature test for about 30 minutes with now errors. I am gonna see how it works under Doom 3. Maybe I might be able to get it up to 200x12

This is an amazing chip. I am idling 100*F right now on air!

If I get it up to 200x12, when windows starts to load, my computer just restarts. Does anyone know what I can do to get around this?

this will offer worse performance than running at 166fsb with the mem in sinc. runn the memor out of sync sucks performance wise for the athlon xps

what voltage you running your chip at? if you not already at it try bumping it to 1.75 which is fine if you have decent cooling and if you have real good cooling I'd push it as high as 1.8

Ok, I tried running it at 200x12 at 1.7 volts but it locked up during some doom 3. I bumped it up to 1.75 and it seems to work so far. And it's idling at 98*F!
