I want to get a WIRELESS mouse/keyboard, but I have a question first.

Can I hook it up to the USB keyboard or the USB mouse input and it will work or does it need to be a USB slot not designed for the keyboard or the mouse?

Well my wireless setup has one usb, and one PS/2 connector. I don't remember whether its the keyboard or mouse that uses the USB, but the base plugs into both.

If your wireless combo is USB+PS/2
then it should have 1 USB + 1 PS/2

if you are using it on USB, then you will only require to plug in the USB
and both keyboard and mouse will be connected to the same Receiver.

if you are running on a PS/2 port , then you will need both Purple color (keyboard)
PS/2 to go into keyboard PS/2 port and Green Color (mouse) PS/2 to go into
mouse PS/2 port

There's no such thing as USB port "designed" for a mouse or keyboard, they're all just USB ports, and any of them will work.
