I looked on the internet into it says i need a floppy and a flash program and stuff well i am just wondering if its worth it i have a ATI X800XL and the bios date is 11/24/04 which is pretty late must of been an old X800XL.
what is the easiest way to flash it?

Does the new BIOS offer improvements? If not, don't bother.

If you do re-flash, you don't necessarily have to have a floppy. You will need to put the .bin file on a FAT partition though, and boot to another partition in DOS mode if you want to go that route.

I have seen some good flash progs that work within windows, and that may be a better plan for you if they are available for ATI cards..

I dont know but it seems it would be good to have the latest bios for my video card can you give me a link to a program that i could flash the card while in windows.

edit: ATI tool doesnt even work with my video card it says its not supported it wont show me temps it wont let me scan for artifacts its basically pissing me off.

Vid card BIOS updates usually do not improve performance in the least, unless you intend on cross-flashing, and that leads to an entirely different animal and sometimes unexpected results. What BIOS updates for vid cards generally fix are incompatibility issues and such. If the card is working with your favorite games, then a BIOS fix isn't likely going to help.

FWIW artifacts are usually caused by overclocking the RAM, and/or overheating.

my eVGA card had a bios update that fixed a few problems... It took me awhile to dig up something to flash my bios.

Hmm, you have a ATI card, I have no idea what program to use w/ that
I used nvflash 5.15. It's was actually pretty easy to use (though not as easy as using nTune for the mobo bios)

boot cd. but make sure you copy your current video bios to the hd 1st.

unless youre overclocking or unlocking stuff its probably not worth it.
