So, I was at a conference in San Diego last week and was trying to use my Vibrant for Turn by Turn, but the POS kept on losing signal and, eventually TURNING OFF(!) suddenly.

I'm done with this POS. I would like to exchange it for a G2 or mytouch HD. So, what's the best avenue for me to approach T-Mo?

How long have you had it? If you're beyond the return period, good luck with that.

What you could do is get a warranty exchange on the Vibrant, sell it on eBay, and the purchase a G2 or myTouch on eBay. The latter are selling for more, but its better than nothing.

T-Mobile won't exchange/return/warranty Vibrants for GPS problems.

If you don't mind voiding the warranty, you could always do the GPS hardware mod, then root and install a better rom (KA5 + Voodoo5 kernel).

It sounds like its crashing, which is more than the standard GPS problem.

Yeah, it crashes maybe, 1 in 5 or 6 times I try to use the GPS. The POS just turns off.

So, I just looked on Wirefly, and they have Droid incredibles for free with a new contract. Would saying "I'm considering just eating your $200 etf and switching to VZW. $200 is worth it to, you know, get a phone that actually works."

I know Rudeguy got a different phone because of the gps problem...

Considering you can sell your Vibrant for about $200 on eBay, you could essentially do a clean swap. The Incredible is a really nice phone, but its getting a bit long in the tooth.

if your vibrant is crashing, they may allow you to exchange it. i'd go in to a store if i were you.

Thing is, it only happens so often & seems to happen more in the car (I think moving at speed is the main problem regarding the crashing). It's just that it seems to crash at the worst possible times :/ Do you think I would have to reproduce the crashing?

I bought the thing when it came out in July, by the way.

If you are beyond 30 days, only the manager of the location you bought it at could exchange it. Of course its going to be YMMV

I'm running Nero4 and have no more GPS issues.

EDIT:

It sounds like a classic Samsung GPS issue. The issue isn't getting a lock or seeing birds...its maintaining it while moving.

Double ninja edit:

Put it up on Craiglist for a swap for a G2. That's how I got back into a Vibrant.

The @Tmobile twitter account may be useful too. I see them respond to customers a lot there.
