1) I'm too lazy to sell it, but could easily get the blue book value without trying. How can i claim the blue book value of a car with a donation? I've never done anything like this before...

2) Am i more likely to be audited if i were to claim a value of $1500 for the car and get it taken off of my taxes?

3) if i do claim a value of $1500 for the car, will i get that money back ON TOP OF what i'd normally get back? I've never had to pay taxes...i always get money back.

If you sell the car outright, you'll see 100% of the money.

If you donate a car to charity, you'll maybe see 25% of the money that you clamined it was worth. It's a tax DEDUCTION, not a credit.

the charity that takes your car will issue you a tax reciept for the value that you will be able to claim.
as for the audit and your refund, i'm not sure.
i will find out the same thing myself this year, as i donated one of my cars to charity a couple months ago.
