I want to create a video out of an audio file

Essentially, I'm trying to create a video, for upload to YouTube, of me playing music. But I only have an audio file of some of the things I want to upload, so I want to create one of those "it's a picture with the audio playing" videos. Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxaAPRVK3lc

I've uploaded an actual video of myself playing edited through iMovie, but I'm stumped about how to do this with an audio file (in this case, a WAV, though I'm happy to convert it if need be). Any suggestions? Thanks a lot, guys.

PS-I'm on a Mac.

I've done it with Pitivi on Linux. Certainly Apple can do it too. Put your audio file in the timeline, then maybe add a static picture if you like. Render the film to your preferred format(winners use free formats ;^) ), then upload to YouTube.

This is where I'm stuck-iMovie doesnt even seem to want to import an audio file, and I can't figure out how to make a video file out of an image.

There are some websites out there that will let you upload your audio file and a single image and create a video from them. I used one a while ago but I don't remember what it's called now. A few Google searches should turn something up.

Give me the material, and I'll try to do it for you. Keep in mind I'm a n00b at video editing, and I don't always have success, but maybe I can get it to work.

I really appreciate the offer, but I'd really like to learn to do it myself; I have a number of files and want to be able to do this more in the future...

AstroMan, I'm googling around for what you're describing, not having a whole lot of luck. I did find instructions for doing this in VirtualDub, but that's a PC-only program.

Any good video editing / movie editing software package should be able to do that. Just take the video you made and delete the video track, keep just the audio track, and replace the video with a still image for the length of the clip. Sorry I can't help you with the specifics on how to do this since I don't use a MAC but that's the gist of it.

I'm sorry; but audio recorders do not record video. You will have to get a bat to interpret the sounds and then draw a picture for you.
