I desperately need a free program that converts wma to mp3, i've tried dozens of free trial versions and i am not patient enough to convert 5 songs at a time...
please recommed a free converter. thanks.

don't. its going to sound horrible.

if you HAVEEEE too and you want to suffer, get itunes and drag all the WMA into the playlist and it will ask you to convert to MP#, say yes to all and sit back as you degrade your own audio quality. rerip your own cds if u can

Yeah what ^he said. If you reencode wma to mp3 you're going to have the quality loss of both wma AND mp3.

since wma and mp3 are both lossy formats, there is going to be some loss in data when changing from one to the other. whether your creative computer speakers allow you to hear it or not is another matter. There will be some degredation though. if you have modest speakers than don't worry about it, if you are an audiophilie then you may want to do something else.

I disagree; if you're paying full price, you should get fullly CD-quality music, which allows for changes in equipment & interest and which can be reencoded without unnecessary loss of quality. Lossy should cost less, as it's less of a product and requires less bandwidth on their part.

huh?

i don't follow. What i mean is that when one encodes in mp3 format, it looses some data inorder to compress. That is why, for quality purposes, it s better to listen to the original .wav insted of an mp3 made from it. So if you encode from wma to mp3, that same compression and loss of data will occur again.

i'm not sure what you meant. are we talking about the same thing?

Sorry I didn't specify, I agree with you about that, just not with "if you have modest speakers than don't worry about it"
