If you right click on the tab you want to keep, you can say "Close All Other Tabs".

Also, there's a Tab Preferences Extension that will let you customize mouse button presses on tabs.

Thanks. This was my "duh" moment for the day.

I've used ff for so many months now but never attempted to right click on a tab, lol.

Now I know there was a thread here about focusing on initial tab after closing new tab that was opened as a link from the initial tab.

It gets annoying that closing the link tab and shows tab furthest to the right.

Off to search topics.....

FOUND: focus last tab selected ext. hmmm, only for 0.9 to 1.0pr.

Yes, I don't much like this either. I'd expect it to be like switching whole windows - if you close one window, you get the last window open before that, not the next one in sequence on the taskbar.
