ok, here's what:
i live in a dorm-type accomodation (for now), and i share my bandwidth with everyone there. there's something in the region of 50 apartments in it ..
now, we dont simply "share". the bandwidth is regulated from somewhere else.
i have no access to the router.
yesterday i was fooling around with a bittorrent and i saw the bandw/ jump to about twice what it usually maxes out to, which is around 230Kbs (i know, right?? the dark ages of broadband
).
there's no way i can play Blacklight Retribution with such horribad connection and not suck. And trying to download anything is a nightmare; it took me one hour just to get the latest geforce drivers.
Also, for those who think i'm bad ()
most of the apartments are actually empty, so i wouldn't be depriving anyone of their justly deserved Game Of Thrones torrents.
So, is there any way that i can fool this system to make it give me more bandwidth?
Is there any way i can find out what switch/router is doing the limiting, without physical access?
I know there's *something* limiting me because while the speed is available, as soon as it goes over 230Kbps it caps me, so all i have to do is find out what ...
