Word of Honor

Nelson DeMille is without a doubt my favorite contemporary novelist, but his books don't really translate well into movies. Hollywood really screwed up The General's Daughter. The book was great. But Word of Honor is probably his best book, I HOPE they didn't screw it up.

I left my sarcasm meter at the gf's place, so I will assume you're being sarcastic?

Really? I'll look for it in an hour or so. 😀

Your mom really does not want to see you now. Really. 😛

I really didnt care for the movie too much. Didnt think Don Johnson pulled off the role. I also didnt think much of the supporting cast did an outstanding job either. It was pretty much a snoozer of a movie and a major letdown for me. Regardless I did like the book.

I am also a huge fan of Nelson DeMille, and agree that none of his books will ever translate well to the screen.

My favorites of his are Charm School and The Gold Coast, although they are all great.

I did hear (or maybe read in the back of the book) that Up Country will be made into a movie.

I wish a new book would come out. 🙂

Charm School is great, Plum Island is greater. Gold Coast I would rate slightly below Charm School, but that's just me. Spencerville was pretty damn good...hell, they are all good. He's the only author that makes me look foolish when I suddenly burst out laughing on a plane. People look at me strangely. 😀

Up Country will not make a good movie. It will be action crap.

Did you read Mayday, that he did with the other author? It was OK.

His website says that he used to write under another name (now out of print), but I have never been to the used bookstore to look. You read any of those? I would be interested to see if they are as good as his newer books.

Yes, I read Mayday, I was not impressed, it wasn't typical DeMille.
No, I never read the books under the other name.

Night Fall (supposed to come out Nov 22) is a new kind of DeMille book. It's John Corey again, but he's investigating TWA flight 800 disaster. That is a real life event. I don't think he's done that before.

why don't you pre-order the dvd... that way, instead of buying it the minute it comes out, you can actually purchase it before it comes out??
