SSD is new.. affordable doesn't exist yet.. looking at avg 300-1000 for 32 - 64 gb
EDIT:
Samsung announced that it will deliver RiDATA branded SSDs with capacities of 16GB and 32GB in Q2 2007. The drives will be available in 1.8" and 2.5" form-factors with ATA and IDE interfaces.
This is blatantly false. I've had one form of SSD or another for the past 6 years. Compared to then, it's affordability has improved several orders of magnitude.
M-Systems was the de facto player in this market for as long as I can remember. And Samsung just bought em. So guess who really designed that shiny new RiData?
Anyways... any ideas of using a SSD for a paging file is terribly backwards. The flash can only be written so many times, and even with write-leveling logic in place, a OS paging/hibernation file doesn't belong on a SSD. Actually it would be better to have Windows on the SSD for it's high IOPs and since the OS files aren't modified that often, and the paging file/user profiles/temp folders on a separate standard HDD.
