Someone close to me basically said I am being stupid for trying to save 15 dollars buying them on ebay and risking 200-300 dollars.

I dont see what the problem is. The sellers have positive feedback.

It is a gift card. It is just like buying anything else on ebay. You take a risk but I dont see an added risk buying a gift card.

is there something I dont know?

I'm sure they are referring to the fact that the seller could inaccurately represent how much the value of the card is.

I'd buy from a seller with a high level of positive feeback, preferable someone who has vends these giftcards on a regular basis.

Calculating it now I just realized they are not worth it

$200 gift card goes for $189
I save $11

However with "cash-back" I get back 4.3% which is a little more than $10

So it is easier not to get the gift card and just go with the cash-back.

By the way this was for GAP if anyone was interested..
