I'm looking to buy one of these chin-up door frame bars as well.

I'm a pretty big guy at 245lbs., I'm gonna be using this thing a ton, I just want something high quality, durable and very safe. There are so many choices out there, I really don't know which to get. I don't care how much it costs.

Anyone have any experience with these things? Any information would be appreciated. :)

I have a Door Gym and I love it. Easy on, easy off, supports well, doesn't require drilling, doesn't twist or move while you're doing pull ups.

I have one, I bought it for $65 dollars... it was in a store and I'm not gonna look for it online but I'm sure it would have been cheaper there.

I would just recommend not going too cheap and get one where the contact area from the bar to the door frame isn't too small. I have a friend that weighs ~190 and his put marks in his door frame and I'd swear its because the surface area isn't distributing the weight onto a large enough area.

That's almost identical to what I have.

I built a free-standing one out of 2x4s left over from basement construction and a pole =o

I have one that looks like the Door Gym. I put more cushioning on the pads and it doesn't leave marks now (I'm 200lbs).
