Better zoom, IS, and I think more options. I haven't played around with the new A series though.
(Major downside would be the size of it)
EDIT: I ended up getting an SD700IS earlier in the summer. It was as low as $305 a couple days ago. Good prices on the S3 lately as well as has been mentioned.
