I want to be this guy

Who is this guy anyway? I don't know but he made over 1M this year. Here's what gets me though!

Check out races number 3, 7, and 30.
I mean my GOD! I can get out there and limp a racecar around a track for 3 laps!

"Hey look at me!, I'm crazy race car guy! I raced three laps and finished last! I must be crazy!!! Gimmie $63,000.00!!😛"

Except that money is used for:
a) Paying His Team.
b) Paying for maintaining the vehicle. (I think he only has the one car)
c) Paying for them all to travel almost every weekend.

I doubt he's making a good living.

check espn.. he's barely making it. when a set of tires costs 1.4k each and you have to have 3 sets per race. engine = 60k car =75k its tough

I think other teams give him used tires, and I know at the beginning of the year nascar was under criticism for using "field fillers" like him. Some of them would start and not have enough tires to make it to the half way point.

If I had the chance to operate a nascar team and qualify, I would jump all over that. You have to start somewhere and he probable is just a low buck team trying to make a go at things and get a good sponser.

He probably gets a bit more cash for sponsorships (stickers plastered all over his car). But anyway, nascar is so stupid.

LOL. I loved those Adam Sandler skits.

Kirk Shelmerdine was one of the best crew chiefs around a few years back. He was the crew chief for Dale Earnhardt and won several championships with him. He quit the crew chief game several years ago to try to get out there and race on his own.

His finishes have more to do with lack of money than anything. He proved long ago that he knows how to assemble a championship team and good car.

Now if he can only assemble a driver.... 🙂 Wouldn't it be better on to get with a team and get some capital before you try to buy a race team?

If I'm not mistaken, he was a top ASA or ARCA driver before becoming a crew chief in the cup series. I really think it's a matter of cash, but he's doing what he likes, so good for him.

His driving is not an issue:
