It would be beyond easy for them to find out.
A simple background check will uncover it.

I would definately disclose the fact. A lot of times they just don't want to hire people who are married, but if you don't disclose that you have a sister and they do find out they would have a good reason to fire you.

Yeah i would disclose the fact in an email for records sake, just so they can't say 5 years later, "ZOMG, YOU HAVE A SISTER WHO WORKS HERE? WHAT DID WE TELL YOU WHEN WE HIRED YOU!?!?! YOU'RE FIRED!"
stupid policy btw, as long as you don't work in the same dept and nobody is the suboridinate to the other, i don't see what the problem is.

policies are created for a reason and usually for a good reason the time they are instated, you arent qualified to make the statement that its a stupid policy when you dont even know the industry.

You can always plead that you didn't know in the future... heck, you haven't seen her for 6 years? It's been about 3 months since I last saw my sister who lives 1 1/2 hours from me... I know what her occupation is, but I have no idea who she works for.
