here's my vision -- 22" monitor on the left for gaming, 19" in the center for generic web browsing (re: ATOT while raiding in WoW) and another 22" on the right to stream TV onto (hardware tuner, haupauge somethingorother).

currently, I've got both of my monitors plugged into my video card (one into the vga port, the other into the dvi). to add a third monitor, what's going to be better performance-wise -- some type of splitter or a second video card (presumably pci express x1 or pci; I've only got one pci express x16 port on my motherboard)?

heres a simple version of what I would do. Use your current card to power the 22 inchers, and get a cheap 7200 or something to tun the middle monitor. I would not use a splitter, beacause for the most part you are only going to get the same image onto whatever you split from.
