I want this microwave.

Fvcking sweet.

Holy crap, if there was ever a microwave for me, this is it. You take the wand, scan the barcode of the item you're about to cook, and the microwave consults its embedded database of over 4000 products to determine how to cook it.

It also has a learning function so that you can program unrecognized barcodes into the product (this is useful for store-brand foods, for example).

🙂

So buy it, only $130, not bad for a microwave with all that?

Edit: You can add a network card and they update it for you? Now that is a nice idea.

is it upgradeable?

like you can scan your own stuff and give it instructions and it will remember them?

EDIT: just read a little more and yeah it does...thats pretty nifty 🙂

Yup, as discussed in the OP, it has a learning function.

Yes, but you need the 'Beyond Hub,' which currently costs about $500. 🙁 It won't work with a normal wireless network unless you have the hub.

I think I'm going to ask for it for my birthday next month! 🙂

Really? So the microwave will cook for 30 seconds and then peel off the plastic? The microwave will cook for 2 minutes, stir and cook for 2 more minutes?

All it's going to do is set the timer. In the time it takes you to scan the bar code to set the timer, you could read the damn label and set the timer yourself. It's not simplifying the cooking process in any way.

And a $500 video card gets you 2 more FPS in your games. What's your point?

BTW, for products in its database, the microwave will stop at its assigned time and flash "stir" on the display when you need to stir it.

There are some people who are do not have the ability to read. Its probably much easier for elderly to scan the upc than to find their 9th pair of eyeglasses that enable them to read the 4 size font.

Yeah, the elderly are notoriously technically adept and know how to work every newfangled gadget. They'll have no trouble with the instructions for a barcode scanner. That is of course if they find another scanner to read the instructions for them.
