I want one: 454 small block, 4X4, four wheel steer, mountain buggy

With most of the obstacles, wouldn't it have been more effective to crawl over them instead of charging in at full throttle?

neat! but..as motf bane said i think you could have crawled over those much better then going balls to the wall.

I'm going to guess here, but some of those look to be totally vertical. He's got to get traction to pull his front end up on top of them. To do it he's slamming into them at the same time his front wheels are turning, kind of popping a wheelie, then the rears push the buggy forward so his front wheels are now on top of the obstacle.

Does seem it could be driven better, but I suppose it wouldn't be as cool as hopping up the sides like that. 😀

Kinda reminds me of one of those big RC car/truck setups that they just throw them full throttle into just about anything...

Pretty cool... But bet its rough on the people in it as well...😛

Just a thought but mount a 50 cal and put a Marine in it and let him have at it...😀

Is it 4WD?

Slamming into a vertical wall won't get you traction (at least for long enough to be useful) but it will break stuff. Momentum is useful on some obstacles like he is doing to carry you through spots where it's hard to find traction but this guy is overdoing it. He's not even close to being in control of the vehicle and honestly is dangerous to anyone and anything around him while he's doing that.

Also, you can't do that sort of stuff on public land and very few private land owners will let you do that much damage. People doing stuff like this are the reason why more trails get closed every year.

Hmmm, they should definite be wearing head protection with a full face helmet. I cringed when I saw him stomp on it over those rocks in that open cage. It looks like those tires could throw debris into the cabin and do some major damage to the passenger/driver. Also, that guy seems to not appreciate off roading. "Yeah bro, I turn my hat backwards and full throttle my v8 through the woods."

I'm more concerned about the people around him. The guy has no control over the vehicle and he's chucking rocks everywhere.

Definitely. I enjoyed off roading a lot when I was younger, but we always respected the trails and were careful not to put others in danger. This guy needs to go sky diving instead of sitting behind the wheel of a powerful offroad vehicle.

Needs independent suspension for even better offroading ability.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or if you're serious.

If you're serious go take a look at other serious offroad buggies, jeeps, and rock crawlers. You won't find independent suspension on them. This is for three major reasons:

1. It's very hard to get an independent suspension with wheel travel that is measured in feet rather than inches. CV joints and universal joints can only take a certain amount of angle before they bind up. A solid axle design lets you keep smaller angles on those joints for a given amount of wheel travel.

2. STRENGTH. A big solid axle can take abuse that independent suspension can only dream about. Big hunks of steel can take big amounts of abuse.

3. Simplicity. A solid axle setup is much easier to design and fab. That's why you'll see people swapping from one solid axle to another in a jeep or truck without much work but you really won't see somebody swapping independent suspension setups from one vehicle to another.

I'm pretty sure he's mocking someone.

He is going to kill someone with that thing. Probably a spectator.

That said, it is a beast and I would pay a lot of money for a few hours of that and a big muddy field.
