i have the tyan tiger 133 and it is drivinb me insane. it freezes at least 3 times a day. I am running win2k and here is the rest of my setup

2x 733mhz P3 slot 1 cpus
256 nec ram
tekram scsi controller
yamaha cdrw
samsung dvd-rom
maxtor 20gig HD
64mg GTS-2 Hercules
sound blaster value
lynksis 10bt/100bt

i want to replace the motherboard with something more stable and won't give me anymroe headaches. I can't stand it anymore. here's my question what mobos are out there that are affordable and that i can use with my processors. I know there are a lot of duals out there but not all of them support processors of speeds above 600 mhz.

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated

SB

EDIT: yep they are all running at the 133mhz. What else could cause these crashes??
any of your expert anandtech users ..HELP

Are you sure its the tyan that's causing the trouble? This is VIA 133 based right?

Aren't those 733's running at 133FSB? Maybe its another component in your system causing the crashes.

I'm very interested because I need to order a dual processor MB today, I am leaning heavily toward the MSI-694D, but now you have me wanting to do a little more digging on the dual processor VIA boards before buying.

I don't know the MSI board personnaly but from what I've read it's a safe one to go with...

A few people MSI-694D that review it think that it is very stable....

If you want a good price/performance ratio go with a via based dual board....now if you stability
and performance ( and don't mind the price ) go with a serverworks board ( the only one that supports 133 mhz and sdram besides the via )....

If you want to set-up a sever look at the:
ASUS CUR-DLS

Yeah, the MSI-694D is very stable... not great for overclocking, but it sounds like you don't overclock anyway.

Anyone going with the 694D, should get the 694D Pro-AR. It adds ATA100 and Raid. :D

are you sure it is the motherboard causing your hassles?

make sure you don't have any conflicts and see if you can pin piont the cause of these freezes.

have you tryied a bios update??/ is it setup correctly for win2k?
any other conflicts?

what power supply are you running? can you pull out the sound card and NIC and the dvd/ cd-rw and see if it still crashes, yeah i know it is a hassle but unless you find the cause of the freezes you may have the same problem after you have bought a new motherboard!
