NMC who showed the world that adapter is still working on it....

Quote from their webpage:

Slot A is dead, long live Socket A. Stop, not quite so fast. On one hand we have Slot-A-Tbirds which are running fine (until now) with KX133-boards. On the other > hand there should be an adapter solution. Is there ? NMCPE is the only Motherboard Manufacturer who actively issues up-to-date statements of the Slotket situation (including possible availability). NMC PE proudly presents the first Photo of a Slotket. This seems to be the only available sample world-wide. Unfortunately, we can not yet publish any Slotket success stories. There are massive problems in designing a Slotket Solution for KX133- and Irongate. We are now in close co-operation with an excellent Taiwanese adapter company. Together we will do anything to find an Adapter Solution for all owners of SlotA-Boards. Currently we believe that it is highly probable, that a functional Slotket will soon be developed for Irongate owners. Alas we can not yet give a similar prognosis for the KX133-plattform. NMCPE will continue working on these adapters so that we can present "our" customers with a Solution. NMCPE will promote any, positive or negative, news about the coming Slotket.

Man I really want it bad! With all this talk about T-birds and Durons, I feel left out with my K7M. Somebody give us a solution now!

Ya I know how you feel, I have the K7M also....and did consider a converter or buying a SocketA board and T-Bird combo...but I figure the Asus DDR A7M266 will be here in a month or two and by then I'll have saved up for a nice T-Bird and DDR ram to replace my "OLD" 500. :)

Yeah, and wouldn't it be a shame to waste your money on DDR motherboards and memory and get only an extra 10fps in Quake3.

It could happen so don't get your hopes up.

Anyone heard anything new on slocket-A?

I refuse to upgrade a motherboard I bought 8 months ago.

Rectalflier: Why not just get a Slot-A Tbird? It should work fine on K7M plus it's easier to overclock than it's Socket counterpart.

And at this point, getting a copper or an aluminum TBird doesn't make a whole lot of difference.

Indeed, even according to AMD the aluminium and copper parts are the same, at least when it comes down to heat dissipation. I believe you'll have to opt for a really fast Tbird (900-1000mhz) if you want to get a copper one.

I've also heard that all 1000mhz Tbirds are Dresden-made, aren't there 1000mhz Slot-A models floating around as well?

Jerry Sanders (AMD's CEO) has stated that almost all 1ghz Athlons are Dresden-copper, and all 1.1ghz and up will be.

Hardocp had a photo of a Slotket converter from Leufkins, it was covered by a waterblock so you couldn't see much.

Man, I will buy a slocket-A along with a Duron and a T-bird the very day one comes out. There is a market for this, why has nobody delivered yet?

I don't know if this concerns anything, but ASUS released the K7V-T which officially supports Thunderbird processors.
