Ok..here's the scenario....We have a computer which will be used for retail showroom processing and all I want the worker to use only one program i.e billing software and nothing else...How do I do that ? and can this be done at all? I want it to be in such a way that all he can do is start the computer, run the program automatically and then finally an option to shutdown.. Is the possible?

Thanks

I remember reading about it in a win2k book I had....I'll have to check and see exactly what it said, will get to it tonight if there is no reply yet. I'm sure its just a very restricted account...

Start->Run->"gpedit.msc"

you can config the settings for the local computer or the users on the local computer

I'm not a Win2K admin, but it seems you should be able to do that simply by setting appropriate user permissions.
Maybe give the person an account with no read, write, or execute permissions on the box. Then grant permissions only to the folder that the application is in. Just a theory though.

EDIT: Do you need to have any other apps on that box?
You should be able to uninstall everything other than that app, then just deny that user account permission to install software.

as jvang125 said, just use the group policy editor. should be no problem.
