In order to play some of those clips I imagine you might need the latest FFDSHOW and enable h.264 in it. I think you can get it from serveral places off the net. Do a google search. or doom9.org or free-codecs.com

http://apps.ati.com/ir/PressReleaseText.asp?compid=105421&releaseID=713852

this is interesting.

Next gen radeon (R520 that is) will have hardware acceleration of h.264.

Its funny because once in a while i come along opinions where people call "h.264" a "niche thing"...lol....after two days of looking around i can already tell that H.264 will replace mp2 and many other formats quickly.

Hardware will always get faster...algorithms better....and if it would be a "niche" thing for sure companies like ATI etc, wouldnt give a *** about it :)

Of course...let Apple launch QT7 (btw. what is the relationship APPLE <--> H.264 ?????) - and the WORLD will talk about H.264.

At least UNTIL we get newer standards in the far future (???) then with the new DVD formats like blue-ray etc....maybe something even better.

As of right now H264 clips are rather sparse btw :)

The R520 was able to playback a 1080p encoded at 25Mbps and the CPU util% was at only like 33% :Q
