I'm not overclocking my system (athlon 1600 @ 1.4ghz). Right now I have a OCZ goliath with YS Tech fan which sounds like a hairdryer. I read that I can replace the ystech fan on this hs with a small quiet 60mm fan.. i've seen pictures of it, its blue.. but i don't know who makes it or where to get it...

I am busy getting together a new system an also like a quit case and pheripherals. But ventilation is also an issue...
As a rule of thumb, a bigger sized fan requires less RPM's (bye bye noise) to produce the same results.

If you'd look at the Thermaltake Volcano 7, which has a 80mm fan, it should be quite quiet :)
I'm not an xpert, it might be much to much for your purpose.

I hope this will be helpfull for you.

Does anyone have an idea if the cooling fans on the case itself (both front and rear), the PSU-fan or a couple of 7200 RPM HDD's will be more noisy than this Thermaltake?

Thank you for any reply.

That all depends on what case, fans, PSU and HDD's you will be using.

Get the Alpha PAL 8045 with the Papst 8412NGL Fan. It's the quietest there is. I think you can get the fan at plycon.com, not sure though.
