god dammit!
this is more of a frustrating post than anything.

whats the "deal" price that I should expect to pay for at least a 24" widescreen lcd? These dells are going for abt 800.

am i wrong or during those crazy dell deals these have gone down to 600? any insiders know when another one of these deals is coming through?

any other cheaper, but equal quality options for a >22in. widescreen?

end rant...

best deal that I've seen on those is where you get the 24" lcd and a decent computer for ~$900...

I have a couple friend that got in on that -- they kept the monitor and ebay'd the cpu, making the final cost to them for the monitor ~$500

Check Hot Deals and For Sale/For Trade for: Dell 2405FPW, HP L2335 (or F2304), and Gateway has a 22" WS LCD. I did see someone in FS/FT here selling a 2405 for like $650, but it may be gone.

Average deal price for the 2405 is ~$850, hot (but rare) is under $800.

It's hard to part with ;)
The 1901FP that it replaced is sitting unused and lonely.

Nope I own the Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW which I paid $480 for :(

Why :( ?

Look at this price

If I were to buy a 2405 I wouldn't pay a penny over $750 shipped.

What's so great about a widescreen LCD? I'd rather have full-screen and have more vertical space. Other than watching movies on it, what's the benefit?

Gaming is great (so long as the game supports the aspect ratio), and coding is great because you get the horizontal line space.

i was just wondering...since ur into dell LCDs and may have gotten in on a deal.

Is the 2005FPW worth upgrading my E193FP? i eventually want to upgrade to 2405fpw, but getting this 2005 plus selling mine for abt 200 profit would be a $135 investment. and then selling this 2005 again for a 2405 fpw? worth it? or should i wait to grab a good deal on the 2405

I like having two or more windows open side by side so I can refer back and forth with my eyes rather than my mouse.

If you were jumping from a 15" or 17" analog LCD then yes it would be worth it. But I would just wait and upgrade to the 2405 because you're going to lose $$$ everytime you "upgrade".

I do too, but I'd rather have two small monitors than one big one.

That's understandable, but then there's desk space. Plus personal preference - you know, diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks.

in 10 years of computer hardware purchases (including my laptop), i'd say my 2405 was the most satisfying. no regrets.

it's personal preferance. I like to work horizontally. one window to the left, one to the right.. especially if i do any web work. two montiors works too, but I like the seamless look.

ideally... i'd want a 24 flanked by two 20's... all widescreen.. my friend has all cinnema displays set up like that... very very very jealous.
