<ranton>I'm so damn tired of not being able to haul anything around. I have a 98 Accord, which is a big car with a big trunk, but my trunk is fulla funk (car stereo) so in effect, I don't have a trunk. But that doesn't really matter since I couldn't fit a monitor box or a shelving unit or plywood or 2x4's in it anyway. I have 18 more months to pay on the damn car...I was looking forward to not having a car payment, but now I want a truck. I'm so tired of squishing stuff into the back/front seat, scratching up the plastic trim panels inside the car and hurting my back trying to finagle stuff to fit inside. I want a damn truck. </rantoff>

Thanks so much for listening. :D

my truck isn't the biggest out there but i've been able to haul everything I need to. here's some images

Picture 2

Sometimes I wonder how people get by without owning a truck. I see people at Best Buy all the time trying to wedge huge Televisions into a tiny Corolla. All those boxes you see by the entrance are where people had to take the TV out of the box to make it fit. I roll right by in my truck and laugh like a silly mofo.

EDIT: Change the smiley from the red angry face to the thumbs up

If you look around hard enough, you can find some early 90's Ford Rangers laying around with ~100k miles on them for under 2g's. Those trucks are easily good for another 50k miles. Repairs are almost a non issue, and if something does go wrong, it's a cheap, quick, and easy fix.

You could almost pick one up with cash and use it as a beater.

[clinton voice]I feel your pain...[/clintonvoice]

I bought a house a little over a year ago and am constantly going to Home Despot to buy stuff. I'm building a garden shed right now and keep having to mooch my neighbor's truck to get lumber since my wife and I both have smallish cars (Altima and Sentra). I feel bad mooching constantly, but I just can't suck it up and buy a truck as both cars are paid for. No car payments is such a good thing.

Oh well.

Uh, if that's your idea of a "big car", I'd like to know what you would consider "a truck". Hint, this isn't one. Matter of fact, the Ranger and S10 also are only pseudo trucks IMO.

Fausto,
Funny you should mention Home Depot; I've been there every day since Friday. I'm building a stand for a big cage (snake) out of 2x4's. I bought a dozen 8-footers; had to borrow the GF's Saturn, fold down the back seat and just stick the boards in there, letting 'em hang out the back. Quite the adventure.

Good idea about buying a beater truck, but I'm not into used vehicles, especially old ones. Too many bad experiences with used cars, plus, I have no where to park it.

Oh well, maybe when the car is paid off (2003:() I'll get a truck. SUV prolly. Best of both worlds that way.

I almost bought a truck last weekend - 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 sport package, regular cab, short box, 2WD, for 15K....pretty good deal, but I passed - I heard a rumor that Ford was putting their svt lightning package into the Harley Davidson package truck next year, need to wait to find out if it is true.

Seats don't fold down on either of out cars...just the little pass-thru thingy between the 2 back seats on my Altima. I can only carry about 10 2x4's that way. Too many trips. Fortunately my neighbor responds well to beer bribes in exchange for truck usage.:D
