Some people say MSI k8N neo has lots of problems, the same for Asus K8N and Epox is not an option for me. I need stability but also overclockability and features such as SATA Raid, Firewire and good audio (7.1 if possible). Which would you buy, I'm having lots of problems with my actual board.

You were so stoked with that board@first too :( Sorry to hear it's flakey. Do what you have to do, but I'm waiting for the new DFI 250gb offering myself. I can say that this Shuttle AN50R is a sweetie for the 150 chipset and is a good overclocking even without the hard mods, but it has ubercrappy audio.

Hello Dapunisher ;) I'd wait for the DFI but I don't know when it's coming and I need a new board sooner than latter, my health and my fathers need it :D . It's so hard to buy a MB for A64 :(

Well, it's a dice roll with any board, since there is a bad apple in every bunch, but Asus QC is pretty solid so it would be a good gamble.

Gigabyte K8NNXP ... been using it for a few months now and it rocks with the same CPU as you have.

I'm thinking of buying an ASUS K8V SE Deluxe for now until until DFI comes.

My vote goes for the Asus K8N-E, if you don't want to wait for the DFI (or if it turns out to be crap) or if you live in Canada where it'll probably only arrive 3 weeks after the Americans get it.

See the K8N-E thread for my favorable experience with it...

Yep, I've seen it and I have finally decided to go for it as OC problems seem to have been fixed :D, how good is the sound?

Thanks ;)

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I haven't been able to notice any difference in sound quality between onboard audio and my old Santa Cruz. :(

Either:
(1) my ears are failing on me in old age (25 years is a long time, riiiight)
(2) my Altec Lansing speakers suck (then why did they cost $180?)
(3) the on-board audio actually is OK, and the sound quality difference is minimal enough that I'd have to actually be looking for it to notice

This is rather amusing because when I upgraded fom SB Live! to Santa Cruz back in 2001, the difference in sound quality leapt out at me...

UPDATE: Going to put my Santa Cruz back in. The 3dmark03 sound test reveals that onboard audio can't handle 60 sounds at once, which may make a diff in some games. ;)

I finally have an Asus K8V SE Deluxe that the shop lent me. I love the stability of this board (only 1 day running :D) and has all the features I need. I'll buy an Audigy 2 'cos I don't like the sound, but everything else is great. I don't need overclocking yet, so here it is my new MB.

Thanks for your help guys ;)
