I want a portable game system, what is better

I am a big xbox user and want a portable gaming system for traveling... I know PSP probably has better games then DS but it seems I wouldnt get the full power unless I get the PS3 - which i will NOT get...

Anyone have any stories/experrience with the 2...

I haven't found a lot of great games for my DS yet, but there are a few which are totally nescesary - New Super Mario, Mario Kart DS, Advance Wars - and there's some good RPGs coming soon too.

I also have Worms and Micro Machines which both suck, and Castlevania which seems ok but can't hold my attention for more than 30 seconds.

Do you have friends who have either system? The DS is a lot more fun with friends.

The majority of the games I play on my DS are Fire Emblem series, Castlevania Series and FF games.

DS actually has better games than the PSP, but some recent PSP games have made it much more enticing, such as the beautiful FFT remake.

Well technically, the GBA has most of the FF games, but the DS can play them natively.

FF3 Remake (DS), FF4 Port (GBA), FF5 Port (GBA), FF6 Port (GBA),

FFTA (GBA?), FFTA2 (Coming Soon for DS)

That is the best I can do without access to game related websites and off the top of my head. You should really read reviews for the PSP and DS and look at what games are hot for each system. Also, check gamerankings.com and list top 50 for psp, gba, and ds.

Very yes. Get the DS if you have friends who own one, and if you don't do what my friend did and persuade them all to buy them.

It was just an assumption that the PSP had better games to be honest. Really Im going to be using it for traveling but I went to nintendo.com and found that the ds has a WIFI browser!? Sweet... I may get the DS just because I like the old nintendo games and all so hey i dont know...

PSP is your best choice. Hack the PSP and put emulators on it and you'll have a huge assortment of older games to play as well. The console also has some decent games. Personally, I own about 14 PSP games and 6 DS games.

The browser isn't free and isn't available in the US. The PSP has an integrated browser already.

EDIT 2:

There's an example of the Opera browser for the DS.

Not just a wifi browser, you can play specific games online.

100% DS

Cheaper
Better battery life
Larger selection of games
Games better designed for quick pick up and play, travel friendly
Easy homebrew

IMO, the PSP does have more great games than the DS, they're just more obscure. There's a great recommendation thread here.

There's a deal going on with T-Mobile and the PSP right now. You'll get 6 free months of HotSpot usage if you use your PSP at one of the spots before March of next year.

while on this thread ... what are some good newer DS games?

i'm going on vacation Thursday morning and will have my DS w/me on the plane. I have been out of the loop w/DS for a long time and haven't used it in probably over half a year.

DS+R4DS

Best games, and can play movies and music via MicroSD cards. (and ROMs if you're one of those horrible even pirate which will eventually be killed by a ninja)

Too bad the DS doesn't have near the processing power or the decent sized screen that the PSP has for playing visual media. The PSP can play H264 media without a problem.

Funny, if you lower the brightness on the PSP it seems to last for a whole lot longer than some suggest. You may say "well the DS doesn't need that!" Uhh yeah it does. My DS lasts just as long as my PSP with full brightness if the DS is at full brightness.

Because all of the games are excellent A+ titles?

PSP has a hold feature, so regardless of how the game is designed, you can simply stop whenever you want.

You can hack the PSP for nothing and since memory sticks are already used, there's NO extra cost.
