i want a new game

i am getting tired of counter-strike and other first-person shooters. what are some other good games. maybe something along the lines of Age of Empires, or Myst. all suggestions welcome.

The Thing has some 1st person stuff, but is mostly 3rd person adventure/horror. I've been meaning to pick it up. Anyone here played it?

Its been a while since really good games have came out. Quake 3, UT, Diablo 2 were the last games made that I actually enjoyed. I've tried alot of the new ones(NWN, WC3, etc) and wasnt very impressed with them. I cant wait for Doom 3 and UT2003 though. I hope they rock.

That game is like crack. I've played it all the way through about 8 times, usually space race victory and a couple times military victory.. which is a lot for me being busy a lot

I also like Battlefield 1942 Up to 64 players multiplayer (the demo is only 32 players). It's due out in a couple days if I recall.

Same here. Its a great game. Hopefully it will be out 9/12. The UT2k3 demo is coming out this week, so that will definately be worth checking out as well.

its dungeons and dragons, and has pretty good single player, but gives players a pretty extensive toolset to come up with their own dungeons/adventures/quests/whatnot.

Mafia (awesome game)

Neverwinter Nights - its an RPG if you've ever played them. Kinda like an adventure game but you go about it how you kinda wish.

Fallout and Fallout 2. It's old, but a good game nontheless - they sell both for $10 - what a great deal!

I think you shoudl check out some older games while you're at it . . . Planescape, Fallout Series, Thief, Freespace 2 . . . all great games!

And then wait until Doom III comes out .

Fallout and Fallout 2 are great values right now. Fans of either may also want to check out Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magica Obscura, which has the same largely open-ended gameplay in a Victorian "steampunk" (turn of the century mechanical technology) setting.

Planescape is my favorite PC RPG ever.
