Let's take stock of the situation. You are 18, and have less than $100 in the bank. You had a debit card, but apparently that contributed to the state of your bank account.
Seriously, please reconsider. In my opinion, don't even apply.
Now, I don't expect you to like that answer, and figure you to apply anyway. If you do, forget the rule a previous poster gave you about not buying anything you can't pay off in a month. The correct rule is:
DON'T BUY ANYTHING YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY IN THE BANK TO BUY RIGHT NOW.
Also, set it up with the bank to automatically pay off the entire balance of the card by the due date - not just the minimum payment.
Further, you should preferably have at least $500 or so in the bank at all times. My bank gives me free debit card transactions if I maintain a balance of $1000. Look into these things.
Following the above principles, it won't matter what the interest rate is, because you will never pay it. If you need a loan - get a loan. Just find a card with no yearly fee. Yo may have to ask for it, but they do exist.
Don't want to preach, but I've seen lots of friends get into trouble with debt. With a credit card, it becomes easier to spend, and the statement at the end of the month is always a shocker - how could I possibly have spent that much? But you did.

Craig
