Are there any in NC? That don't require a 4 year degree or previous field experience? Or do I need to plan on two more years of school & flipping burgers? I just want something computer related and I'm not picky about the pay.

See if there are any game development studios around. You could sign on initially as a play tester.

I'm not sure working the help desk qualifies as 'cool.'

Hmm, didn't Epic move to Cary, NC? That's about 20 minutes away from me and would probably qualify as 'cool.' :)
