I still have my P4 3.06GHz that I got 2 years ago. I see no reason to upgrade. It is plenty fast enough.
The move to an E6400 (and I did it on the cheap with an ASRock-775Dual board) was a bit of a mindblower.
It is really that much faster. It pretty much doubled my COD2, HL2, and Q4 FPS's and truly saves me hours on all the encoding I do.
I've been in this computer game for years and years and I can't remember gettting a smile like this for under $300 for a long time. It's cool to hang onto old good stuff that works but to ignore major leaps in progress that can be acheived cheaply is simply being uber-cheap.![]()

When I bought this computer in 2003, I never would have imagined nearly 4 years later id still be able to run the latest games at a nice resolution. I did upgrade the video card last year, but the main part of the computer is from 2003. But since it runs my games at 1680x1050, I dont really have a reason to upgrade it now. I think this is the longest that a computer has lasted without being obsolete

Did that $300 include a new video card and ram? Because if I upgraded my processor I would have to upgrade my motherboard. And since it uses AGP and DDR ram I would also have to upgrade to a PCI-e video card and DDR2 ram. Doesn't seem worth it to me, especially since I already have 2GB of DDR400.
