Damn it!! I have this track I bought off iTunes and burned to CD and reripped to MP3.. "Follow Through" by Gavin DeGraw. I put it in Media Player.. and did the whole "Find Album Info" thing, and it renames it to "Just Friends" which is track 3 on the album.

Now I don't get this... even if I edit the tags and set the track as "1" (Follow Through), it still thinks it's track 3 and insists on naming it "Just Friends." What the hell is wrong with WMP?? They totally broke this feature somewhere along the way..

i always suggest moving to Media Player CLassic over at sourceforge.net
but for mp3's, Winamp is the way to go....

ITA. Winamp 5 rocks... blows apple's media player out of the water, in my opinion.

I don't get why people use MediaPlayer for MP3's. I mean, sure, "it's there," but the program itself is so big and clunky...

Ya it seems once you get a version of media player to be tolerable (all the patches, configurations, etc) you get forced into upgrading to the next one and its like starting all over again.

I only use WMP (sounds eirily similar to WMD) for videos.
For music, Winamp owns. its light, free, and has thousands of cool skins and plugins to choose from.

Well, I'm a feature freak..I gotta have cool features in my apps. What's so cool about Winamp? I really like the ability of WMP9 to go out to the net and find the name of the track, album, etc., and rename it in your playlist. That's pretty slick... when it works. (piece o' sh_t)

I used to use Winamp YEARS ago, but then WMP started getting cool and they added all kinds of new features. I like the ability to add lyrics to an MP3 and read them via WMP. Does Winamp do that? I saw on the Winamp site that they have a new Media Library Manager, similar to WMP9's Media Library. The screenshot is too small to see much, though..could someone post a screenshot?

If Winamp can fetch track info from the net for MP3s in my collection, I'm sold.

Media Player screws-up my song listings too.
My store bought Talking Heads CD works fine in my home stereo CD player, portable and any other non-computer CD player.
When I put it in any CD-ROM or CD-RW drive, It moves the third song to the first in the list and renames it. The actual first song isn't listed or played at all.

Yes, and it probably goes into some big RIAA database with all your songs and your IP

Hey that's ok, my tunes are legit. As soon as iTunes supported Windows, I was there.. I have no prob paying 0.99 per song.
