I Wanna Save Recorded Shows...

I started renting a DVR from my cable company. I don't know if that's the name they gave it locally or if a lot of places use it, so I'll just state that a DVR is essentially a Tivo.

Now... the space on my DVR is slowly running out. I really want to be able to transfer the stuff off of the DVR onto my hard drive of my computer.

Is this possible? I figure I would use the A/V out on the DVR and then go into my computer on some sort of expansion card -- possibly a TV tuner? I have a GeForce 7800 GT that I think might be able to do this.. but I'm not really sure. I can only get it to output the video, not vice versa (I think it needs to be S-Video?).

If this isn't clear enough, please lemme know. I'm basically wanting to know what I'd need to do this, and how much it would run me for a decent one. It doesn't have to be great, but I am willing to spend money to get quality.

Thanks!

Should be able to do it with a TV tuner card. Google dvr to computer.

Personally, I have a standalone DVD player/recorder that I got as a gift, works pretty well.

I wanna add that I don't necessarily need to go directly from the DVR to the computer, per se. If it meant having to re-encode it to my computer, that's fine... it's just, I want to have it both on my computer and then also want to be able to burn it to a DVD (both a backup data DVD and a DVD player-compatible DVD, too).
