hi, i was using w2000 pro happily for a while, but decided to give xp pro a try.
at first, i wanted to do a completely clean install, but this machine just wouldn't boot from the windows xp cd, so i ran the install from windows 2000. it gave me the option of doing an upgrade or a fresh install and, ofcourse, i picked fresh install.
the computer booted out of the gui and into the install mode where i had to choose the partitions and such. i tried deleting the current (C:\) partition to make it completely clean but it wouldn't allow me to do so, citing that the partition contains information needed for the install.
So I went ahead and installed OVER that partition. Now Windows XP is up and running great--no crashes/glitches just yet. But I KNOW that it's a mess and I wanna destroy all or most traces of Windows 2000.
Is there some program that can do it automatically? Or is there a list of folders that I can delete manually?
I would attempt to reinstall but , since CD wont boot, it'd be trouble some ... I'd have to install from 2nd HD... or partition the current HD... etc....jimmy rhig the install
