Hello!
I would like to format everythng that is on my cmputer and start all over again.
I have two hardrives: a 13gig and a 30gig. the 13 gig is partitioned and hold winme and win2k. the 30 gig hold linux mandrake and some other stuff.
I want to start all over again. everything gone! i want to wipe out the boot sectors and all. i simply want two blank harddrives and thats all.
I want to install win2k later on though. I've upgraded a bit and want new software in this sucker... it ha s been a long time since i have formatted. when did win2k come out?
can you please tell me what to do? i don't want linux to be in my first boot sector any more.
thanks a lot for the help people!

If you want to wipe everything out, simple get a hold of a DOS boot disk, ensure that fdisk.exe is on the disk. Go into fdisk and remove all the partitions. You will now have a completely blank disk. Disks of today don't need to be low-level formatted anymore. If you now re-partition your HD's with a DIFFERENT scheme, then all your data will be gone..Regards

My recomendation is to go to your drive Mfg. website and download the drive software, unless you already have the disk. Most of them have a utility that will write 0's to the drive. This will destroy everything including boot sector. Fdisk, format and install your selection of operating systems.

As far as not having lilo in your MBR SUOrangeman wrote an excellent post on triple booting and using W2K boot loader. I found this invaluable setting up my triple boot system.
