i wanna die, or something - side effect of new medicine UPDATE: better now

Yesterday I started a new medication for my back trouble. Muscle relaxant, I forget the name.

Today I'm sitting at my computer working, things aren't going well, I'm getting more and more pissed off and after a while I feel like life isn't worth living and I want to throw things and I feel generally horrible.

Finally I realize it's probably the new pills. Either that, or my life really is worthless and I've just realized that - ha.

Any advice for counter-acting this stuff? I have a call into the MD's office, but they're closed, of course, and it's not an emergency room matter.

Thanks, and I KNOW you aren't doctors and that this isn't the best place to ask for advice blah blah, but hey, somebody out there must have had a bad reaction to a drug once and might know what to do other than just wait it out.

UPDATE: THANKS for suggesting water & friends, I wasn't thinking clearly. Friends came over, hung out, I got stranger and stranger and they took me to the emer. room - had insane blood pressure, heart weirdness, etc. Stayed overnite for observation.

That stupid MD had prescribed a crazy high dose of the Valium, according to ER docs.

Time to change MD's.

uht oh...sounds like me when I was one of the test subjects for Zyrtec....I startred writing suicide notes and ******....it was AWFUL.......it's the medicine dude....stop taking it, and drink a shitload of water to flush your system
 
There's probably not much you can do. Try to find something to do to distract yourself, and drink plenty of water as mentioned above.

I took a muscle relaxant the other day... didn't have that effect on me... although I have been feeling a bit out of it lately (unrelated to the meds).

Anyways, I'm sure things are not that bad. Have there been any break ups or other events that might be getting you down? Or is this just a random feeling that snuck up on you?
 
Just make sure you are not by yourself for extended periods of time. People that commit suicide have a kind of tunnel vision and the only thing they can think about is killing themselves - once that thought grabs you, you may not be able to rationalize your way out of it. I lost a cousin to suicide and a co-worker was killed in a murder-suicide a few years back, so I don't take this stuff lightly, even if you were half-joking 🙁

That stuff will put you in a zombie like state in no time. In fact it's called the soma coma. Very scary, but very effective, stuff

 
If you're looking for over-the-counter stuff to help you.... unfortunately, the gov't puts restrictions on anything that makes you happy. Bacon always puts a smile on my face, so you could try that... other people like chocolate or ice-cream... just don't do this too often!

Maybe try visiting some sites... i like going to grouphug.us.... reading how fvcked up other people are usually makes me happy. lowbrow.com is another.

thanks all - it's diazepan, which is valium. Idiot MD hasn't called back yet. Friends are coming over and we're going to watch Office Space, Life of Brian and some Mel Brooks, if needed. Pizza is on order, but no beer.

Remember... drink loads of water.
 
Valium Side Effects:
Abdominal cramps, blurred vision, dry mouth, racing heartbeat / palpitations, shaking / slurred speech, urination problems, convulsions, hallucinations, memory loss, trouble breathing, staggering / trembling, headache, clumsiness, sleepiness or confusion.
(If you experience any of the above serious side effects, stop taking valium and seek emergency medical attention or contact your doctor immediately)


call your pharmacist if the doc is dragging his heels.
 
If you're flipping out and getting depressed while on diazepam, then you must have some major issues.
That should chill you right out. Mabey you're just having a bad day.

Hell, valium is abusable and fun too....
