:eek:My dear friends,

I 've planned to buy a GF card, and after read some posting in here
I decided to choose Leadtek Winfast card.
[since ELSA is too expensive and Gainward is very rare in my country]
But I'm confuse  to choose which one I've to buy, and need your advices
Here's my choices :
1. GeForce3 Ti200 128 MB AGP4x DDR TVOut DVI
2. GeForce4 Ti4200 A250 TVOut DVI 64MB AGP4x DDR
3. GeForce4 Ti4200 A250LE 128 MB TVOut MyVIVO AGP4x DDR

I read in a posting here that 64MB's GeForce4 Ti4200 has faster memory than 128MB's
Is that true? and what about their internal clock and overcockability, same or different?
Which one is the best from the three above?
I'll buy it in one or two week ahead.

My PC configuration:
MoBo : I Will VD133 Pro RAID + HotRod ATA100
Processor : Intel P!!! 733EB MHz
Memory : 512 MB SDRAM 133 MHz Crucial CL2
Harddisk : 1. 40GB Maxtor 7200rpm ATA100
2. 40GB Quantum Fireball 7200rpm ATA100
CDROMDrv : Creative Infra 52x AudioXcel
Monitor : Viewsonic P70f 17" Pure Flat 0.24mm
Soundcard : SB Live! Digital
Speaker : Altec Lansing ADA 890THX 5.1
FaxModem : US Robotic Message 56K Voice

Thank you for your concern and your good advices:);):)

Get a Radeon 9700.

Or, if you MUST get nvidia, get the Ti4200 128. It will be faster. If it is clocked lower than the 64MB version, it will easily overclock to that level, and in new games you will definitely feel the difference of the extra memory.

I can personally attest to this. Also, I have posted a short procedure on how to reprogram your NVidia-based card's BIOS chip to run at higher speeds by default rather than using Coolbits or the tweak programs. I am quite pleased with my GF4 Ti 4200 128MB card.

I think you'd be better off with a GeForce4-Ti4400 and then overclock it to Ti4600 levels. It's only a few dollars more than the Ti4200.:)

I'm with Deeko. Why would you get a crappy Geforce card when you could get a happy Radeon?

The word budget comes to mind...

Anyways, Im pleased w/ my 128MB 4200, overclocked nicely enough to 300/594 (im keeping it at 290/584 though). Im w/ seekingtao, flashing the video bios just makes me a happier man...plus i get to boot up 4 seconds faster now.

Everyone isn't rich? Maybe that's why they invented those Radeon 9700s (non pro), 9500s, and 9000s....

A 4200 is about $150. The 9700 is ~300, pro is ~350. The 9500 isnt out yet and wont be massively superior. The 9000 is inferior.

5000+ posts and he reccomends a 9700 for a P3. Joker...

For that system, get a Geforce 3ti200 128 meg, unless you plan on upgrading your processor soon, a P3 would bog down a ti4200, more money for minimal improvement in performance.
If you are planning on upgrading the processor soon then go for a ti4200 128 meg. The lower clockspeed
doesn't mean anything when games use more than 64 megs of memory, and you can easily overclock to 64 meg speeds.

You should also look into the Radeon 8500LE 128 meg, which gives better performance that the gf3 ti200 for the same price.
The 9000 series is crap.

Ps. my 1st post ever!

The 4200 is inferrior and overpriced. The 4400 isn't massively superior. There is a a lake called Superior.

I got an Albatron geforce4 Ti4200 for $153.00 from newegg.com , thinking it will be alot better than my radeon 8500 (paid $90 for radeon). I ended up returning it because it cannot beat my radeon's 3d and 2d ....YES it's faster but image quality is inferior ...if you dont believe me get a good monitor and look and compare closely. :)

Thank you so much for your useful advices;)
I choose a GeF4 4200 128 MB, but I?ve to wait for a couple week
There?s no available stock at this time
GeF4 4200-4600 and Radeon 9000-9700 is very rare in my country
Most of them still sell GeF2MX/GTS, GeF4 MX series or Radeon up to 7500 series.
[even Savage 3, Voodoo3000 and RivaTNT2]

To: Deeko
I think [as you advised me] I?ll get a 4200 128MB
and about Radeon, the highest in here is 9000Pro
* Powercolor Radeon 9000 64MB US $ 76.34
* Powercolor Radeon 9000Pro 64MB DVI TVOut Dual mon US $ 96.77
But I think Powercolor is not a good product isn?t it?
No one sell the new Radeon 9700

To: screwface
It?s a good advice, but 4400 is expensive enough at this time [in my country],
besides there's no store sell the 4400 [they sell 4200 and 4600]

There?s a 'big' different pricing in my country:(
Leadtek Winfast price :
GeF4 4200 A250LE 64MB TvOut DVI DDR AGP 4x is about US $ 187
GeF4 4200 A250LE 128MB TvOut MyVIVO DDR AGP 4x is about US $ 207
GeF4 4400 A250 128MB TvOut MyVIVO DDR AGP 4x is about US $ 252.68
GeF4 4600 A250 Ultra 128MB TvOut MyVIVO DDR AGP 4x is about US $ 366

Other brands :
ASUS V8420 GeF4 4200 128MB DDR AGP 4x is about US $ 202.68
ASUS V8440 GeF4 4400 128MB DDR AGP 4x is about US $ 252.68
ASUS V8460 GeF4 4600 Ultra Deluxe 128MB DDR AGP 4x is about US $ 392.47 :Q
ELSA GLADIAC 725 GeF4 4400 64MB DDR AGP 4x is about US $ 258
ELSA GLADIAC 925 GeF4 4600 128MB DDR AGP 4x is about US $ 360.21 :Q

Powercolor/MSI/Pixelview/Jaton:
GeF4 Ti4200 64 MB ? US $ 123.60
GeF4 Ti4200 128 MB ? US $ 155.90
GeF4 Ti 4600 128MB ? US $ 288.70

Stores are taking advantages of the deviation of foreign currency, especially US Dollar
When Dollar is up, then they change those prices more higher as soon as possible
But when Dollar is down, they do just ?a little? changes! Sounds tricky isn?t it? :|

But once again, thank you to all of you! :D:):D
