Well i was driving home from school one day and there are the usual cops patrolling the area around the school looking for idiots speeding out of the parking lot. Well i decide to pass a moving bus (in an area where you can pass and didnt break the speed limit cause the bus was going like 20, and once i pass the guy i see the cops sitting there. they ask me to pull over and they gave me a ticket for "unsafe passing" (the officer was pissed, but i didnt give him any attitude at all) when there was no way i was breaking any traffic law that i know of. (my passenger friend got a ticket for not wearing seatbelt) WHAT DID I DO WRONG!!! i have to pay this 110 dollar ticket and i dont have a clue as to what to do cause i cant afford and i have witnesses to prove i did nothing wrong. is there a free way to get out of the ticket or did this cop just cost me a bunch of money?

<< my passenger friend got a ticket for not wearing seatbelt >>

Make sure everyone is wearing their belts! If your buddy was wearing his or her safety belt, chances are you would not have been pulled over!

Cheers!

but i dont know of any law that says its wrong and you will be ticketed for it. alos the person behind me did the same thing and got nothing from it

never pass a school bus unless it's a multi-lane road. in texas it's not even legal to do it in a passing zone i dont think. no one is going to have much sympathy for you (in court i mean). a young male passing a school bus full of kids, nothing good could come out of that. live and learn.

i thought that i got it from him too cause the cop was slowing eveyone down and checking for belts. its not like i can make him pay for it

Yeah it really isn't safe to pass a school bus, not very smart either. You may hate cops now but would you still hate them if someone stole all your stuff and then they recovered it? People love cops when the law works in their favor but hate them when it doesn't.

Not to be a d*ck, but if you don't see the danger in doing what you did now, you will when you have a few more years of driving experience under your belt. I'd explain more but I'm too lazy to type that much 🙂

Yup basically you got screwd by the tax collector man.We had to pay $80 on the spot for going 20 MPH over the limit in a national park.Lucky he didn't see us 2 minutes before because we were going 40 over.So pay up and stop whining

hey ill whine all i want im a poor student. hey he said there was a way to get it off my permanent record how do i do that.

In Hawaii it's illegal to pass a school bus when it's red lights are flashing and the stop sign is sticking out. So if you did that you're wrong. Otherwise you might be able to go to court to dispute it. If it's your first offence they will usually let you go. USUALLY.

It is illegal to pass a stopped school bus. This is because kids might be crossing the steet from in front of the school bus, where a car trying to pass the school bus wouldn't see them untill it is too late.

in texas you can take defensive driving (for speeding tickets anyway) or not have another ticket for 3 years and it comes off.

The School bus was MOVING when he passed it. He didn't do anything wrong unless he passed over a double yellow or something. Go to court and fight it.

Indiana law regarding the passing of school buses:

IC 9-1-12-1 makes it an infraction (civil violation) to pass a bus with the stop signal arm extended. The statute permits the circumstantial evidence collected or witnessed by the bus driver to be used in court. The penalty is a class A misdemeanor.

If you say the lights weren't on, I hope you didn't cross over the yellow center line to pass...

yeah exactly no double lines

well, not for what you would go for. if you were convicted of something you could be ordered to pay court costs and attorneys' fees for another party, but that's a little beyond what you have 🙂

thats cool someone told me it would cost just to get in court. good thing they were wrong. im gonna fight it. should i bring my witness in.
