I use LogMeIn Free on all my systems, as well as my families computers and it works great cross platform. Makes it simple to connect to multiple systems as they are all available from a central login point.

Yes, Microsoft provides a remote desktop client that works wonderfully and supports Vista. It's beta 2 right now, but there have been no notable bugs I've seen.

Beta 2 is great, but man, the first beta was ridiculously buggy.

I personally use a combination of UltraVNC and Remote Desktop Connection depending on needs. UltraVNC isn't as snappy as RDC, but I don't have to log back into my desktop when I am done with it... so it is a trade off.

I also use the free version of Logmein cross platform with good results.
