I unlocked my BFG 6800oc to 16v1, 6v1 or what ever

and i ran the counterstrike source stress test, on 1028x 764 or what ever that res is supposed to be, with everything on the recomended settings... didnt see any artifacts.

is this a suitible test, to see if it worked, or do i need something more stressfull,

What should my 3dmarks be before and after the unlocking for '05.... i have a A64 2800+

how do i tell if its stable? dont want to do any damage to it

You shouldn't do any reall damage by softmoding/OCing the card. The worst that can happen is you get artifacts and you have to revert back. If it works well in the games you play, who cares if it doesn't in others. Until you notice some artifacts or heat issues, you should be fine.

If you don't get artifacts on the VST you should be fine.
Have fun,
Nick

i had artifacts when running 2k1, 2k3 and 2k5 3dmark, only on the matrix test. plus i was getting artifacts on vampire masquerade when i looked through a glass. so put it back to normal, guess its defective for me

Try just having the pipes opened but keep the vertex shader masked or vice a versa.

yeah, only one of the two might be defective. try them individually.

Maybe a weird question, but what exactly do these artifacts look like that appear when the card doesn't function after a mod? Just glitches on screen??

they r like dashes of discoloration on a darker frame, u usually cannot see them on a light frame. there are usually a lot of dashes and r very noticable and annoying
