The Danish film director Lars von Trier has been slapped with a ban from the Cannes Film Festival over his remarks about Hitler.

The filmmaker told a festival audience that he "understood Hitler" and he sympathised with him a little.

Later in the day he went into damage control, apologising for the comments and saying he wasn't anti-Semitic.

But it was too late for the festival organisers who declared Lars von Trier persona non grata and banished him from Cannes.

But I am amazed how he at Cannes is able to steal all the PR.

Notice how he after the nazi commments said this:

And then he went on to call "god" more evil than Hitler...very well knowning that comparing "god" to Hitler" would really get people ticked off...

He is a master at creating PR about his own person...and people fall for it over and over and over again...

It's about Trier.

Calling him dumb or a fucktard only goes to show he pulled a fast one on you...you try and follow your own advice..make an effort.
