Turned my ankle pretty good at work about 5PM, I was shocked that it didnt hurt like a bitch when I did it. I was walking backwards and stepped into a 3' deep hole that had dug with an auger, fell backwards and was more surprised at the lack of pain than the dumbass thing that I had done.

Dicked around after work doing house chores and finally plopped in front of the TV about 9PM. After watching TV for an hour I tried to get up and fell down from the pain, now my ankle hurts like a bitch, and its hard to walk around.

Why did it take so long?

Anything I can do besides RICE? Or is it even too late for that to help?

Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

ibuprofen for the swelling & pain

That ship has sailed.....not helping yet.

Sorry you must amputate..... :p

Seriously though, I jammed my elbow on the ladder at work the other day and it stung at first but went away quick and about 3 hours later it started hurting like a biatch too. I took some ibuprofen and it went away in a couple hours and i felt allllll better :).

Similar thing happened to me: I injured my wrist but it didn't get really bad until next day.

You should sue your employer . . .

:D Just kidding, but if you have to get medical care for your ankle, don't forget to use workers' compensation.

Since I work for a family business, workers comp and litigation arent really an option. I could sue my Dad, but he might come over and whip my butt. :p

hey man....I've had 12 casts on my ankles....and just hurt it again in September when I was down in Orlando...I even played a basketball game in HS on a broken ankle...

when you sprain your ankle, the swelling worsens considerably once you stop moving...and can lead to an increase in the pain you feel....only real think you can do is keep it elevated, even when you sleep, and put some ice on it every hour or so for 10-15 minutes at a time...Ibupro can also help, though it doesn't do much for me...

good luck!
