I think that many people only vote when they are angry. I decided to let people rate me. I don't know why. Silly me. The very day I turned it on I asked a question about what was better, 1 or 10. Number 1 is usually considered the best, not 10, so I wasn't sure. Therefore I asked a simple question. What I got was a bunch of silly people who decided they would teach me a lesson We were not talking life and death, politicals, science, religion. One idiot wrote back that it was such a stupid question that I deserved a 1. That was all it took. A bunch of sheep followed suite and before I knew it, I had about 20 votes that averaged out to like 1.113.
To me it was just ridiculous, but I tried to laugh it off. What is the point of rating someone? I didn't think it was a proper use of the rating system. It was more like boys in highschool ganging up on someone.
Today I had a disagreement with someone in another thread. Then that person then accused me of rating him a 1 because of our disagreement. Of course people believed it so more people decided to rate me a 1.
I am starting to think the user rating thing gets abused so I have decided to turn it off. I have looked at many user ratings here. Almost no one that I have looked at was above 5. Is it safe to say people vote more out of spite than anything else?
p.s. I think if you look at my replies here I try to keep it light for the most part. I don't usually engage in long-winded debates that go nowhere. I usually avoid the serious ideological threads, etc. I'd rather just kick back and have some fun. I come here to unwind, not wind up. Just so you know.
p.s.s. maybe only people willing to be rated should be allowed to rate others. it might not be fair to let non-rated people rate. [ducking and running]
