I turned my PC on and it shut right off the next second

I'm freakin out here. I go in to my room, press the power button to turn my PC on and the blue lights on the fans turn on for probably less than a second then shut off right away. Now it won't do anything. Yet the amber diagnostic light just below the agp slot that says it's getting power, is still lit. I'm thinking maybe something shorted?? I'm stuck, please help!

Thanks in advance...

I have an enermax power supply where the on/off switch on the power supply itself AND the 110 / 220 slider are loose and can move out of place.

Switch both back and forth then try again.

A friend suggested the things you guys have also suggested, and also keeping it unplugged for 20 minutes and trying again...all of which did not help. He then suggested puting a paperclip in the slot of the psu's systemboard connector (unplugging it from the system board first of course) to connect the green and black wire and powering it on to see if it's the psu or not...So I did that and everything came on full blast. So it's not the psu. I tried taking out the CMOS battery and letting it sit overnight, still doesn't work. I'm thinking there was a short in the systemboard somehow...which would really suck. So I guess I'm gonna try disconnecting everything first and rebuilding it one thing at a time to see if it's one of the peripherals or expansion cards or something...I'm still stumped on what initially could've caused this. Any more suggestions??
