Alright, at 12 I'll be 21. I was going out anyway and was going to get something to drink. Was thinking some red wine, something sweet, I have never, yes NEVER, drank alcohol in my life (never had the interest really), so I seriously have no clue.
Anyway, what is a good red wine to get that would only cost like 10 or less a bottle?
thanks!

Beaujolais Noveux. Perfect for what you're looking for, on all counts.

pX,

If you have never drank alcohol in your life, why start? That aside, if you've never tasted it, you probably will not like most reds.

what was the Ladies Man guide to buying wine? I forget. All I can remember is:

Get a cork. No screw top wines for the Ladies Man.
Get a wine with pictures on the bottle. Good pictures. Grapes=good. Dogs playing poker=bad.

Thats all I can remember

Never tasted it? Buy something mild (low alcohol percentage). I like a nice mild red wine. White wine = blech, IMO.

I work at the liquor store...

I would give you some 'NICE' suggestions... but then, for a first time wine drinker, as long as you don't get any crap wines, you're good to go!
so I'd suggest you stay out of eastern european section for starters.

you can never go wrong with chile or australian wines... almost all of their wines are exceptionally good. Wolf Blass (from australia) comes to mind...

and you might wanna start with a rose wine. these are the pink colored wines... not white, not red.. just rose! many people start with these wines because they're more mellowed out for the first timers.

anyway, enjoy.

I just wanted to try something. I will never drink around anyone else I don't think, not even my girlfriend, just wanted to try it once. I have nothing else to do on my birthday, I don't have a friend withing 100 miles of here so why not.
thanks for the responses!

Dude, bring your g/f over, have some dinner, and share your bottle. Wine is meant to be shared. It's not the same when you drink it by yourself :)

Go for a nice German Riesling.

Yummy. Sweet and light.

When you have a bottle of wine, you can make friends pretty easily :) Just invite in someone, tell 'em it's your birthday and you have a bottle you wanted to share, and vóila, instant friends :)
