Alright, so I was watching some news program the other night, and I saw this thing about 'conflict diamonds.' For all of you who don't know what they are, conflict diamonds are diamonds bought out of warring countries. The warring factions generally use the proceeds from conflict diamonds to fund their wars and thus buying from warring countries is supposed to be avoided among jewelry companies (which for the large part it isn't).
However, the thing that upset me the most was the description of the suffering in the small warring countries. The program noted one country where rebels were waging a terror campaign against the citizens, cutting off the limbs of adults and children, men and women alike. The program kept showing images of children missing hands and legs and arms and it made my extremely upset. I had to go into my basement and pound on my punching bag for over half an hour, picturing all the while beating the men responsible for harming the children.
It was one of the few times that I can say I truly HATED someone, that I wanted only to wipe them from the face of the earth. I'm still upset about it whenever I think about it. How could anybody do that to a child? They scared them, wounded them, and ruined them for life? Those men don't deserve to walk the earth.
