I tried to do some long multiplication the other day...

Couldn't do it at all. It's been 5 years or so since I did it last...but really, how sad is that? Any sites online where I can re-learn how to do this stuff? 🙁

Anyone else like me?

Long Multiplication? Like, a 4 digit number multiplied by another 4 digit number (3245 X 1982)?

EDIT: I'm an idiot...I keep thinking 'Long Division...'

pathetic. I haven't done it in 15 years but I can still do it today. Some of you kids are sad. Derivation and integration on the other hand, i haven't done since 97, but I don't remember much of it. Probably because I did it less often.

All that stuff was erased from my brain after my final high school math exam a few years ago.

I could be wrong here, cause I don't remember it being called long multiplication, but isn't that something like:

23
X15
-----
115
230
-----
345

Like that? You can't do that? Yeesh.

*Screams in horror*
I pity you. 🙂
Well, at least I don't feel quite as bad about doing terribly on a physics midterm today. 😀

i forgot how to find the sq root of a # (longhand) about 3 seconds after i read the chapter on it

calculators = TEH GOOD!

There is a reson that McDonalds now has the register make change for the customer. They were loosing thousands a day with cahiers giving incorrect change 🙁

I bought a few of the 99 cent hamburgers and chicken there a few days ago. the total was $4.47 I gave the guy a five, then after he hit the enter key, I found 2 quarters and 2 pennies in my wallet, and gave it to him. He looked at them, then his register, then the change again, then back to his register. Then he gave them abck to me, and said that it was too late, he already entered the amount in.

How fricking hard is it to do that math? Just gimme a damn dollar and a nickel! How did you make it though kindergarden? Don't they teach this crap?

Thank heavens there are pictures on the screen, as some of them must have a problem reading "large fries" There has to be a picture of a large fry, or they will get confused.

Wow, I don't think they even taught us that in school. I don't remember anything like that.

I was a cashier at K-mart for awhile and I always was caught off guard with that stuff. I hated it there, and I sort of shut down for the most part while I was working to help cope with the stress (I'm not a people-person). Any kind of subtraction or addition, I could always do it, but it required an awake mind, which I didn't have at the. I could never picture the numbers in my head quickly enough. That kind of job just sucks for some people.

I was just trying to figure out that $4.47 thing in my head; I've gotten so slow at anything it seems. Can't think straight anymore; been that way ever since I finished high school (in 2000), and I don't know why. I could think back then; nowadays I can't remember a conversation I had 10 seconds ago. (literally)
