DivX has become synonymous (sp) with any type of movie on the net, people just don't know the difference any more...

Divx = MPEG4 people!

well.. if you guys are hip to irc, hop on to efnet and go to #futuramavcds its anivcd's place and you can get a ftp list to mpeg eps of futurama/simpsons/family guy

mpegs are better than divx for the simple fact that you can burn them as vcds and watch it on your dvd player

btw, did you know that fox is going to show some new eps new season?! its going to be great

I guess technically divx is only a mpeg4 hack. The mpeg group didn't have that in mind that it'd be used for divx. I guess, someone help me out here.

I thought DivX was straight MPEG4? Maybe not though, which would explain the codec requirement. I'm assuming the name came from the short lived DVD medium where you watched the movie once, and it became disabled after 24hrs. I'd bet you're right RaoulDuke.

There's an article that explains it pretty well on Tom's Hardware. You'll have to find it yourself though, cause I lub AT :D

Straight MPEG is the way to go for VCD's. I'm only interested in DivX cause it'll be a convienent way to take my DVD collection to school with me.

The article that you want at Tom's Hardware is this one

Which episodes have you successfully downloaded?

Ep 219 has worked for me so far

the divx files are simply the mpeg files that anivcd released.... the annivcd files are 200megs and the divx are like 60 megs...

no diff in quality..

much, much better than realmedia.. its just like watching it from tv
