I thought that audiophiles didn't care how their gear looked, for the most part?

I went to a store and wanted to buy some Mirage speakers, but found out that they've cleared out their inventory because they didn't "look" nice. This suprises me in two ways--since when did audiophiles care that much about the looks of their speakers? And don't most people leave the grill on?

I just don't get it 😕

Maybe they got married. Audiophiles may not care about the looks of the equipment but the wife will!

no, the grill impedes the sound.

and you think audiophiles don't want speaks that look nice you ain't seen a nautilus

Yeah, i've noticed that some girls dood impede the sound greatly. I wouldn't be able to comment on the "ugly" Mirages though, durnit!!

Anyways, i've always thought that nice-looking equipment would come as a bonus, not as a requirement. Take for example my Marantz, dayamn it's beyoootiful (and sounds good)!

A lot of audiophiles care about looks when they spend thousands of dolllars. Would you buy a ferrari F50 if it looked like a pontiac azteck?

I rest my case.

I spent about 1k on my spaekers and receiver so I dindt exactly buy cheap.... Looks were on my agenda and I like the way they look. Its funny but Wharfedale was smart, their speakers look better with the grills off...

most high end speakers do look better with their grills off...to an audiophile at least...there is just something about seeing those beautiful cones, pretty little tweeters....yummmm

Most people probably arent "audiophiles" although looks do play some part in it. If Product A and B have identical specs, are within a few 100 bucks and B looks much better....Whatchya think we get? 😉

Thats especially true with the Wharfedales... The cones are yellow woven kevlar which look sweet compared to the black enclosure. check out my webpage for pics...
